Embracing Our Stories: The Path to Healing and Purpose in Our Later Years

If you have time, I highly recommend this insightful discussion on the importance of integrating all chapters of our lives to understand their lessons, make peace, heal, and discover our next steps. Sheila Johnson's journey resonates deeply with my work with older adults.

When asked why it took her so long to write her book, despite encouragement from business and personal relationships, Sheila explained that she needed to embark on her own healing journey to reconcile her story.

In my work as a coach, I've found that many older adults have not been provided with a safe space, tools, and resources to support their purpose and healing journey. Although there's much talk about the financial impact and representation of older adults, especially with the baby boomer population and the great wealth transfer, we rarely discuss nurturing their healing journeys.

How can we become more curious about what purpose and healing look like for this population? Sheila shares that she's in her next and best act because she took the time to truly understand what healing entails. Perhaps her example can inspire us to assess areas where we might need additional healing so that our conscious next act can begin.
